    Fantastic work!

When I win the lotto, after buying my zeppelin airship, I'm commissioning a sporran fine enough to impress the gods.

    Now about that ticket...

Thanks Chaps, you've got me blushing.

    Cheers,
Thanks ever so much. Projects like this are really what keep me excited and engaged. I'm always forced to wonder what happened to the originals. Was it discarded? Still stuffed into a trunk in some attic somewhere, mouldering away? How do these things become lost to time? Doubly so the skills- Why were things like this no longer made?

How does something like this vanish from the world? What happened to it's maker?

I hate to see things disappear, especially well crafted things.

It might be that, but more likely it's the fact that I barely leave the workshop.

Seriously though, thank you all again. The reception this piece has gotten here and around the web has me grinning from ear to ear.
I'm so very lucky to have been afforded the opportunity to remake such an iconic piece.

Well done once again Scott, what a fantastic piece. You have done a sterling job of replicating it perfectly.
I like that functional cantle, that's very smart, very smart indeed!

You are the go-to sporran man, anything else is second best.

I agree. I think that I can actually say that you are the best sporran-maker currently living in the entire world. I've not seen any modern work that's better. Seriously.

Fear not, Scott. You create family heirlooms, amazingly beautiful original works of Art that will stand the test of time across the generations. It is a distinct privilege and an honour to own one of your Masterpieces. The path for mine, once I leave this mortal coil, is already well established within the family. It will be passed along, complete with a detailed written & photographic record of our collaboration and a printed copy of your own Thread - The Bespoke Process from Start to Finish, to my daughter and her husband in trust for my grandchildren.

Scott, through your artistry and friendship, you have become a rich thread our family story. I give you my word, that you, and this family's own Artificer Masterpiece will be appreciated and cherished for many generations to come. Thank you.

I always enjoy seeing your new creations Scott. I'm interested to know if you do the heart piercings using a die. They look very accurate and uniform. Keep up the great work! I'm anxious to see some engraving.

No Die, they are hand cut using a jeweler's saw and finished with files. Having dies made for each individual project would be immensely expensive and time consuming (not that sawing all those hearts out wasn't time consuming )

I know what you mean about time consuming. When I did my wedding sporran I cut a fancy profile on the cantle and it did take quite a lot of cutting, grinding and filing to get it done. One thing that might help with the layout would be to make a drill pattern template of the heart in a piece of steel. It would take out some of the measuring and make repeating consistency of the feature a little easier. Plus, once you have it you can use it on future pieces.
