Bravest of the Brave
Reading past posts to gather information and avoid duplication a thought crossed my mind.
Has anyone ever worn their kilt to a job interview?
Would be stating right up front that if you're hired you're gonna wear kilts to work.

interview...
I didn't wear mine to my last job interview, but it was discussed -- the library community is pretty small here in Springfield, and the people interviewing me knew that I wore a kilt -- and liked the idea of me wearing it "on the job".
Cheers,

Well, I might be stretching your definition of "job interview", but as a self employed contractor ever time I see a new client it is similar to a job interview.
I am in effect hoping to win a job with the client, so yes, I'll put my hand up.
Every client I see is when I am kilted.
Often, I get no response at all, but neither do I get any negative comments.

Graham,
I think, like your reputation, your kilt precedes you.

Never had the chance to wear one at an interview, but being like Graham and self employed, I get a few comments of nice kilt, etc.
I really do get appreciative comments when I am meeting new people and their is a form of "impression building" that must be made. But then again like Casey said the kilts precedes my reputation.

I got a contract job from a guy who knows I wear kilts. He did ask me to not wear the kilt on the job though.
After seeing me in troosers he might have changed his mind.

I wore a kilt to see a client for a quote and then had a number of saucy texts from the woman who recommended me, as to why I didn't wear it when I did her garden.
It's probably a good job I didn't

Now you have me courious! I work in a Library and have worn mine on a few occassions. When I asked I was told that 'technically' a kilt would fit under the 'work casual' classification of the city. Because there is a chance I could be in a ceiling one day and under a desk or doing computer moves then next it would not work on a 'day-to-day' basis but I am given some leway on those 'special' occassions.

I haven't worn my kilt to an interview, but kilt-wearing did come up during the interview for the trucking job I now have. The personel manager is part of a local motorcycle group that I belong to, and she's seen me kilted before. I asked if a kilt would be acceptable for my position. She said if I do city work I should stick to jeans, as it's very dirty work. However, she also said I could wear whatever I wanted if I start doing long-haul trips. Now that my initial training is finished I may be doing long trips shortly. Woohoo!
