McMurdo,
I love the colors of the kilt and the entire outfit, but the cat looks almost worried that he is going to be made into a sporran. Notice the similarity of the fur on him and the sporran. LOL

That cat has never trusted me.

match the tie, socks, flashes etc with any color in the tartan and it should suit your preferences.

Sorry TYK, but this preoccupation with colours having to match something else you are wearing maybe the way to go in the non-kilt world, but this obsession has to be thrown out in the kilt world
Grizzly's post
"Sorry I disagree, too much preoccupation is given to being matchy matchy. Does a Highland Scot worry weather his tie matches his hose or his flashes, I think not. What matters more is the overall appearance as in " do I look respectable in this?" .
Accentuate by all means, co-ordinate by all means but matchy matchy just makes you stand out as trying too hard.
Just saying....." Says it all

Downunderkilt, I agree that it is not neccessary or even preferable, but this particular asker wishes to be "matchy matchy" and I am not saying that everyone should match the colours in the tartan but that this particular user does. I do not match my "accessories" with my kilt most of the time except for matching tartan flashes. If the user wishes to be "matchy matchy" he can. That does not mean that you or I have to, that is just his preference. The kilt in many contexts expresses freedom within reason and anyone may wear it however they choose. Also the asker was looking for help finding a particular item, not criticism about his choices. As you said it well, "Just saying..."

Perhaps we should have asked why? If it's because you think that accessories should match, then many would politely advise against the look but if it's because you like to match your accessories then go for it, what you wear is completely up to you, the kilt is after all a "free" dress.

If that is what you wish to do, well that is fine, but just so you know, it is not the Highland way. Personally and with the greatest of respect, I feel that you are overthinking all this.

Jock scot, I am afraid you misinterpreted my post. What I meant by "you should be fine" is perhaps better described as "that should suit your preference. I am afraid I set myself up to this interpretation and I have edited the post accordingly. I agree that by debating it we overthink it.

You are not alone in the "overthinking" and "debating" bit!

Mustard flashes do, in my personal opinion, look rather good with purple hose. @ASinclair may just be subconsciously thinking of seeing my mustard garter ties with purple hose.
