Kyle my friend, what an absolutely fantastic choice to have, lovely tartans and an excellent choice of tweeds.
Firstly, my eye was immediately drawn to the US marine corps tartan, a lovely colourway and superbly muted colours, it looked familiar to me and so it should - the US Marine Corps reproduction and secondly Cameron Hunting muted

In respect of the tweed, I must express a preference for windowpane tweeds but to compliment the Marine corps Tartan I would without doubt choose the herringbone tweed in choice A. A multi purpose tweed with accents of a myriad of colours which would not only compliment the USMC but with a multitude of other tartans as well.

A lovely dilemma to have, I for one am truly envious. Good luck with your choices I am sure that you will choose well.

Thanks for your input and recommendations, Simon. It is much appreciated. You are correct, the Marine Corps tartan in Dalgliesh's reproduction colour scheme bears a remarkable resemblance to the Cameron Hunting tartan done in the same/similar colour scheme. And to give credit where credit is due, David Pope had brought this to my attention in another thread a few weeks ago. I had no idea! Of course, there are obvious differences (subtle to the casual observer as they may be) in the sett of each respected tartan, so the similarity does not worry me too much.
The brown herringbone pattern of Tweed A; with flecks of fawn, dark brown, and a bit of a yellow ochre (mustard) is lovely indeed. It's definitely a "multi-purpose tweed," as you put. Extremely versatile with almost any tartan in any colour scheme, but I also think it would pair especially well with the earthy/rustic hues of tartan woven in the weathered/reproduction colour palette. Thanks again for your advice!
Cheers,

Chattan with tweed D or F, kyle. Such a quandary you are facing mate, I almost feel sorry for you. Cheers and look forward to your final decision.

I'm cheap, and like my tweed simple. I'd get A, wear it with both, and be done with it. As far as which tartan to have made first, I'd pick the one that is most different from the rest of the kilts that I already have, just for the initial variety.

Slainte....
Yep. Absolutely. Besides, the tight houndstooth options look too much like the lovely tweed you already own which I hope you won't be selling to finance this creation.
Question: Why haven't you gone with Cluny's tweed to compliment your MacPherson Hunting?

Kyle,
Tweeds A, C, and G are my picks to work with both the Chattan and the USMC. I think that any of those would be amazing with the Chattan (I am biased, love that tartan and it's on my someday list) and would work just fine for the USMC, which is also a lovely tartan in the reproduction colors.

Kyle , you definitely give us a challenge ! I like all your selections .
I'm hard pressed to pick one . However , I will try to offer some input .
My top four selections would be : D , A , G and H . In that order . Of course , I'm a bit biased , I like the brown based tweeds .
Good luck on your selection .... I don't think you could wrong with any of them . You definitely have a good eye , as all these tweeds could work with either tartan .
Best , Mike
