Thank you, Father Bill,
Thank you for the suggestions on where to start and search for info. I am aware of Matthew's site and plan on searching that, for sure.
Also, I am very aware of the Highland Games in NH next month and am trying to plan (? does that make sense? lol) on going. It should be very exciting!
I did not know about kiltmkernh.com but will def. check that out ( and the Lincoln police in their kilts!).
And as an aside, I hope to apologize to Steve Ashton for my faux pas regarding his video. (oops).
Kind regards.

Welcome to the site. Will be headed to NH myself, as I always do each October, for the foliage. Love it there, and will be wearing my "Leaf Peeper" tartan. LOL

Thank you. I have not yet attended the Games at Loon Mt. but did see the Southern New Hampshire Scottish Games & Celtic Festival; at Silver Ranch, in Jaffrey, NH in 2008.

Could you manage to post a picture of the Tartan you have? There is no Tartan listed among the Scottish Tartans Authority (STA) or the Scottish Register of Tartan (SRT) under the name "Stewart muted dress blue"
In general "Muted" is simply a term used by the weavers to create a softer version of an existing Tartan. It may not be a specific or different Tartan, just different colors.
"Dress" is a term that is generally or often used to mean a Tartan where one of the background colors is changed to White. This creates a lighter, more feminine Tartan for ladies dresses. It does not always mean more formal or dressy.
Stewart is one of those names with a huge number of Tartans. There can often be confusion between the spelling Stewart and Stuart. These are actually different branches of the same family. (There being no "W" in French")
So, the only sure way for us to help you is to see the Tartan.
