I have brought the auction to the attention of the Curator of the Clan Macpherson Museum in Newtonmore, as well as Cluny's son, Jamie Macpherson. So, we shall see what happens. The Clan Macpherson Association has bid on clan relics and items of historical importance at various auctions throughout Britain in the past, so I wouldn't be surprised they decide to move on this. However, time is of the essence and I fear it may be running out quick.
Kyle, let us know how this works out........ Hawk

Estitmate £2000-3000. Sold for £2750.00 which is a snip compared with this piece from the same sale. The snippet of tartan with the ring is a Wilsons' piece c1800-30. The sett is an unidentified one but the sett is the same as an 18th century plaid in the possession of the STA.

And sadly, the ring did not go to the Clan Macpherson Museum. Och well, it was rather late notice anyhow.
Wow. I could get carried away bidding on that.
