Nice to see the Duke and Duchess looking so relaxed, it looks like they really were enjoying themselves.

Wonderful! It's always nice to see HRH the Duke of Rothesay out and about in Highland Dress. I do believe that the Ballater Highland Games was celebrating its 150th anniversary. I loved the cracking photo of the three Scottish Terriers too! Thanks for sharing.
Cheers,

You can buy a jacket much like HRH is seen wearing from Freedom Kilts. Not THCD tweed, with military trimmings, ad lozenge shaped buttons, but very elegant and business like. The Freedom Kilts vest, although lacking lapels is also nice.

Exactly so! One does not need a tweed kilt jacket with "military trimmings" and a waist coat with lapels, etc., to be well within the THCD conventions BB. The Prince demonstrates that(THCD) absolutely perfectly in my view.

A few comments of my own thoughts. First it is a very nice photo spread ,thank you for sharing.
I too like the simplified jacket and waistcoat that looks to be made from standard suiting material of a navy heather makeup. I've something in similar cut and finish but in a tight heather self colored tweed.
I picked up a trick from HRH several years ago that is displayed here if you recognize it without having to look hard. Too often IMHO flashes end up as sizable chunks of chevron'd tartan or flopping colored wool ties or garters, while HRH shows the look of just a short touch of the tips of his red flashes. IMHO this is how "flashes" should appear, just a subtle but contrasting touch of color, even less obvious than a pocket square.
I love the pic of the three scotties, especially the middle fellow with the saltire on top of his hairy head.
My only question is of the visual propriety, nay just the look, of the metal cantled sporrans and sporran chains for day wear albeit dressy day wear. HRH's we have seen before and know it is a beloved hand me down of leather with short leather tags/tassels, but the gentleman to his right seems to have a full dress fur sporran with metal cantle, a step or two above HRH's, and to my eye a bit incongruous to the seemingly less formal event and environs. Maybe it is just me.
Anyway thanks for posting it.

What I want to know is:
Where did he get that cromach? It is beautiful with the carved thistle AND the knotwork band fastening the handle to the rest of the staff (I am sure there is a proper name for that of which I am unaware, pardon my ignorance--shank maybe?).
I have seen a number of UK vendors that make carved thistle handles like this, but none with a celtic knotwork band to match. Loving it.
Slàinte!

Is it just me or has he putting on the beef? That looks like a wee bit more than the usual gulf at the side of the apron!
Gordon Highlanders pin and regimental tie.....but the Hunting Stewart kilt. I've seen him with a Gordon kilt on before. I wonder why the choice of Stewart rather than Gordon?
Does anyone know what his kiltpin is?
Anybody any good at blowing up photos? I'd love to know what it is.
He's certainly one of the best dressed men around, when it comes to wearing the kilt.
