    Wish me luck...

I've bought my kilt with me on holiday to Paris with the thought of wearing it out tomorrow. It'll only be the second time I've worn a kilt in public and, understandably, I'm already feeling nervous about it, but at the same time am looking forward to the experience. I was worried about transporting it safely but I bought a kilt roll and it seems to have survived so far.
I'll post some pics tomorrow if my nerve holds.

They'll love you and your kilt in Paris. I'm speaking from experience. Now is the chance if you want to pose for photographs and collect for a good cause!

The first couple of times I wore a kilt out in public I had carry the thought that I was supposed to be wearing a kilt. Actually, as something of an introvert, I do this in any situation where I'm not sure if I'm fitting in or not. Anyone who bothers someone who is doing what they are supposed to be doing is just being foolish. (This is a mental trick I used often when I worked on security systems and I had to access all parts of businesses or banks and didn't want to be bothered with constantly being questioned by employees, but that's another story.)

Wear the Kilt with pride. My ancient signature here was "Kilted with pride". So indeed wearing it with confidence you will be fine.

My wife's mother is French and traditionally the French have a positive impression of the Scots.

She loves my kilts and loves Scotland. Obviously this is just one woman's opinion but I suspect you will be just fine.

Paris is a great place for a kilt. After all, Parisians and -ennes are among the world's most appreciative of high fashion.

Kilt on to Notre Dame and the Champs and Louvre!

I always wear kilts in Paris - ever since I realised that the quality of service was so much higher when wearing a kilt. My french is pretty poor and I am always conscious of my schoolboy french, but wearing a kilt it seems I am forgiven even by the most Parisian of waiters.

    Enjoy!
    Best wishes - Harvey.
