    Ah yes, wellies. A very practical type of footwear for wet, mucky weather, as shown by Sandy in the second pic of post #12. The photo you've shared shows the boots a bit more clearly though

    Thanks all for the kind words. A couple people have added photos and I welcome more such additions to this thread in order to increase its value as a resource. We focused on pictures of Xmarkers because they are contemporary (not antique), show regular people (not limited to the rich, famous, or noble), and are already available elsewhere on the site (avoids copyright problems).

    Some other valuable threads have been closed because people "borrowed" photos from elsewhere on the web without the required attribution or permission. Let's not make that mistake here, eh?
