I've already donated....a bit to the Wildcat fund... "Adopted" and whatnot... I would LOVE to own both the tartan and the tweed! Kilts in both, and jacket and vest in just the tweed. Do keep us posted. How many yards is needed for a Jacket and vest?
Should this take off.... I'm in for a minimum of 5 yards of tartan and possibly 8 in tweed.

That's excellent, Kilted Cole! .... the tweed is just a "gleam in my eye" and a way to get another mill involved. It's nothing like "arranged" yet.

However, with Kilted Cole, we now have 20 yards worth of "significantly interested" lads, and that's a minimum order pretty much for sure. Now, "significantly interested" is not the same as "I"m committed, where do I sent my money?", eh? There's no "commitment" yet, until the design is finalized, unless someone has already stated that they're committed.

    As it looks right now:

Alan H is actually "committed" for four yards.

Brewerpaul is "significantly interested" without stating a yardage, so I'll guess 3 yards

Another lad stated an interest when this first came up, but now that I review the threads, I don't see that interest now, so I think he might have retracted it, in favor of fiscal conservatism! ...but hopefully we'll attract him back to the fold. I'll count this as three yards.

Kilted Cole is significantly interested in five yards.

That's fifteen yards. ----- There are a couple of other lads that are heavily involved in this thread who I'm betting will spring for a few yards. Between the two of them, I bet we'll sell five more yards. That makes twenty yards of "significant interest". Now, I'm fully aware that "talk on the internet" is worth absolutely nothing until the cash is on the table, but I'm thinking that we're really in pretty good shape, here.

    And we've just started.

When we've settled on a design and thread count, I'm going to ask my friend Mirjam if she would be interested in producing a hand-woven, maybe lambswool scarf, two setts wide and four or five setts long, that we could all see.

I would be interested in 4 yards double width at least as I am designing the thing I should have some of it.

Okay, Let me express my interest level.... to where can I start sending payments? Figured by the time all is said and done, I will have it paid off. lol. Depending on finances, I might be able to tack on another 3 or 4 yards depending on if we go single width or double.

Count me as significantly interested. Might I suggest the white be replaced with an ecru shade? I've an interest in having Dalrymple of Castleton woven. I always thought it had very narrow white stripes. The CADs I've received show it to be an ecru strip. The small difference in color intensity really makes a big difference as I see it. Also I've seen an Asian version of the wildcat in the wild, ( I believe it to have been an Amur wildcat) and didn't really detect any pure white fur on it, just a tannish off white, more of a ecru, maybe it could have been considered a grayish color. Tabby cats, are domestic cats displaying wild markings, and they usually don't have any pure white in their fur.

In regards to Felis silvestris grampia, this should clarify things:

Great link. It shows that non-hybrids have no white spots.

    This is very helpful.

So McMurdo, remember everything I suggested about the white stripes in PM's??? Nix all that! Minimal or no white at all is more true to the cats actual coloration. Perhaps a "frosted gray" instead of white? I'd say to stick with your last design and just replace the white with a gray-ish tone and IMHO, we're "there". But that's just me!

    ==============

McMurdo...I kind of figured you'd want a few yards... OK, four yards.

    Kilted Cole...YAAAY!....

    Benning Boy, that's great.

I'm pretty sure we have 20+ yards worth of serious interest, here, which is FANTASTIC. Now I just have to hear back again from Knockando and Nick Fiddes.

I agree, Alan. More of a greyish ("frosted") colour would be an appropriate addition, versus the white.
