I like the way the tartan looks, but I don't know what the green is supposed to mean... would the tweed have a similar colour scheme?

Green is for the eyes of the cat. As for tweed colours not sure we are there yet.

I don't know how true-to-actual size the image is, but if you can pad the thread counts, for a 7-inch to 7.5-inch sett, this could lend itself to several interesting pleat-to-stripe options.
This is a 7" Sett The Tartan Designer states that a sett size of between 5" and 7" is ideal for weaving so that is what I was trying for. I thought being on the high end would be preferable.

Reason: Changing thread count slightly

I have deleted all of my older designs so as to not get confused.

I agree. Having the sett closer to 7" would be ideal. Maybe just a wee bit larger too.

That really is a gorgeous tartan, Glen. Very earthy and rich, of which I am obviously fond. The more I look at it, the more I like it. Well done.

Overall I like this tartan. I am interested but more because of the cause and less because of the tartan. I am generally not a fan of brown tartans but would consider buying into this project because of the cats.
That being said, to my eye it is a bit dark, where most of the cat pictures early on in the thread seem to have a lighter almost tan as the dominant color. I am not sure of a way to fix that if it even needs fixing. I see there are two shades of brown in the tartan and I think the color I am thinking of might be somewhere in between them, which would decrease the contrast and probably make an unattractive change. So if nobody agrees with me then I would certainly not spend much time attempting change on my account.
Also a technical issue, in that I could not see any of Glen's pictures until the last two, so I have very little idea of how the progressions looked. My ideas may have already been covered in previous versions.

I decided to delete the older versions just to save any confusion if you want I could send you them all so you can how we arrived at the present design. As to the browns, I used the weavers section of colours on the Scotweb tartan designer so that it would be easier to see what the tartan might look like without going to custom dyes. Please remember that in tartan design we are discussing colours that evoke a certain feeling or in this case an animal. I do not know that it would be possible to match the colours exactly as there are so many variations in nature. Also every monitor in the world is going to show the preview differently and what we have here is an approximation of what the threads will really look like.
