Thanks, Bren. Probably won't have the time to do too many of these. I'm pretty slow and the stitching was done on my Mother's old Singer, which now has no belt, so was hand-turned. The treadle probably wouldn't have sewn through the leather anyway.
I love it! To see a purse and be able to repurpose it into a fine looking sporran is something I can really appreciate. Well done! I like the use of antler.
Daughter was home over the holiday and loved the idea of the remake. She's pretty much recycler anyway. She also suggested making a sporran belt out of the purse
strap. I'll have to add some leather, but that should work.

Time to recce Goodwill with my daughter. Maybe I'll find a big brown purse to convert.

Nice piece of work.
One of my colleagues has a rather bright pink backpack in the same style that had me thinking along similar lines to this...but NOT in pink...

If you use your Mother's Singer for other things, you can purchase a belt from a sewing machine repair shop where the Amish or Mennonites live. They are wonderful machines, almost indestructible and a joy to use, something about the rhythm...it's soothing.
