Now, that is sad. Really sad. Man, I bought a lot of fabric from that mill. OK, thanks for letting me know.

I too am shocked at how many have closed. At least marton has a lower cost so more can go to wildcat haven...

Elliott's Mill does indeed produce tartan - min order 10 yards single width. They weave a good 13oz and 16oz worsted. Whilst I understand the desire to go with Marton Mills for this or any other tartan due to price, doing so it is a further nail in coffin of the Scottish weavers. We will all rue the day that the last Scottish mill closes.

i trust Panache won't mind me linking back to his thread about the kilt in Hamish Bicknel tartan woven by Elliot's on instruction from Paul Henry. I have been lucky enough to see some if the cloth and it is wonderful with a lovely woven selvedge.
Best wishes - Harvey.

Andrew Elliot is in Selkirk very near to Lochcarron, Dalgliesh and Ingles Buchan, but do not normally weave Worsted Tartan. They are a Tweed weaver.
Ingles Buchan requires a 60 meter minimum run.
Lochcarron can do shorter runs but do not normally offer that to retail customers. Their usual is also 60 meters.
The 60 meters minimum will also apply to House of Edgar.
That leaves you with Marton Mills. They will do an 11 yard minimum run for £39.00 per meter.[/QUOTE]
Yes, Tweed is a major part of Andrew Elliot Ltd's business. They also specialise in Tartan and Tartan Design. They are also open to small runs.

To all involved with this project. The "benchwarmers" are still here and waiting to be included in the game. We may be silent but we're paying attention and ready to contribute. An "aye" from the sideliners will give you an idea of how many of us there are.

Thanks again everyone for your suggestions thus far, I think we are getting close here.
I think this iteration is evocative of the wildcat and I'd certainly wear it. Anyone else agree?

Thank you all who have supported my design, at this point I think it does a great job of representing the Wildcat and I hope it will be well received outside this community. I have have done a small tweak based on some of the suggestions members have shared here. I have increased the brown and decreased the yellow. Here it is. This is also a 7.5 inch sett I have not deleted the previous version.

I like this much better, Glen. The tweaking really made a nice difference. I thought the yellow was a bit much in the previous design. Since the yellow is only a wee part of the wildcat as a whole, its eyes, I feel it should be represented just the same within the sett of the wildcat tartan. You have indeed achieved this, my friend. I would wear this tartan in a heartbeat. Well done!
Cheers,
