I did find House of Scotland USA as well as Robertly USA Ltd. online, but neither have physical shops, it seems.
I've sent Robertly an e-mail to find out why.

House of Scotland will schedule an appointment for kilt fitting, but they spend a lot of time away

No place yet to walk in and judge the goods. And as Hamish has said time and again, quality is worth paying for!

Regarding conflicts with vendors, I find it more like trench warfare, where you try something, then peek over to see if it did anything. They do the same, nobody moves. Attrition to surrender the dominant strategy. Or playing dead so the other side will go home.
