And I've done a pleating analysis of the new "weathered variant". When you go to the Photobucket album link below, you'll see that I've arranged the pictures in pairs (sort of - they appear sequentially if you click the arrows) so that you can directly compare the gray and the weathered versions both in the tartan and in the pleated versions. I've labeled each pic so that you can tell if it's the gray or the weathered variant. You'll find all of the pics of the 3rd variant (the brown one) at the very end.

I don't know, Jock....do you feel a bit "weathered" these days? Perhaps a bit more than, say thirty years ago?
Maybe this should be the "Hunting Jock Scot" variant, except that implies that people wearing the tartan are out, hunting Jock! That's going to be difficult, I suspect that Jock is a wily woodsman!
If you want to see it, you'll have to take a look at the Facebook group!
Crumbs, two horses in the race! I don't know about being "weathered", but I am extremely flattered!
Thank you Barb, for the link to the third "horse" in the race on facebook, that is really helpfull as I dont do FB.

I'm really liking the weathered variant. Seems a little sharper and more balanced to my eye. This whole project might come to fruition at just the right time. I've been contemplating what tartan to make my next kilt from.

And just last week, you were saying, with some angst, that you were about to go through tartan withdrawal....saved again!!! ;D

I've been following this thread with great interest and am really impressed with what has turned out to be three really interesting tartan designs. I'm really liking both the Gray and Weathered variants...can't decide!

I need to emphasize that awfully soon, all discussion of this tartan will stop on X Marks. Soon it will be time for discussion of aspects of the project which cannot be talked about here. All further references to XMTS will be removed from further publicity and distribution, as they're incompatible with Rule #10. The next you'll hear of it on X Marks will probably be when pictures of finished garments show up in the pics thread, probably in January or February.
Discussion will end, or at least any discussion of the tartan contributed to by Alan H will end, when we announce which tartan has been selected as the actual Scottish Wildcat Tartan.

Once this becomes an exclusively Facebook project, I am out of the loop. I never have been and never will be a user of that site. Oh well.

It's not a "Facebook Project" - Facebook is simply an easy way for people to talk about it. There are lots of ways to stay in the loop. The simplest thing to do is PM me on XMarks, and I'll send you my email address, and I can let you know how to order, and from whom, once it's all sorted out.
