    Another Tartan stumper

A consignment kilt came into my shop today.

This is truly a magnificent find as it is a 20 year old Burnett's & Struth in never worn condition.

But I cannot place the Tartan.

Obviously an ancient version of something. My first guess was Gunn but the bands are black and green and not black and blue.

Maybe it's just that it is an ancient version. I'm sure I know this one but for the life of me can't name it.

I don't have a clue, but what a fine looking kilt. I'll keep checking back to see the answer (as someone here will know) Mention the dimensions, if not a rule infringement.

Once I can name the Tartan I'll be putting this up in the For Sale Section.

I'll have full measurements and lot's of photos.

Just as a point of interest, I looked on the Scottish Register of Tartans, which had this to say:
    "
    STA ref: 2059
    STWR ref: 2059
Designer: House of Edgar - Macnaughton Holdings Ltd.
    Tartan date: 01/01/1990
Registration date: This tartan was recorded prior to the launch of The Scottish Register of Tartans.
    Category: District
    Restrictions:
    Yes. Not specified
Copyright is held by Macnaughton Holdings Ltd. Registered design with the UK Intellectual Property Office #600421, certificate granted 22/10/1990.

    Registration notes:
This tartan was created especially to honour the late Roy Williamson, writer of both the words and music of 'The Flower of Scotland' now accepted as being Scotland's National Song. Bearing no affiliation or connection with any clan name it is available for all to wear.
The design is based on the setting and thread count of the Gunn tartan, as worn by Roy Williamson, using the traditional 18th-century colours of Lichen Green and Lochan Blue. Sample in Scottish Tartans Authority's Johnston Collection."

So, Steve, your thought that it might be Gunn had a solid basis! ;0)

Yea, I have the same information. But you know, sometimes you look and look at a Tartan, and while you are sure you have seen it before, you just can't pin it down.

That was the case with this one. Even though I have the thread count of Flower of Scotland and the Tartan right in front of me. There was that lingering doubt.

So I asked for the experts to back me up.
