    My Mother's family come from around Durham, NH. The DeMeritt family and the Walker family have been neighbors and marrying each other since well before the Revolutionary War. Those two families, the DeMeritts and the Walkers while they came to the New World from England and Scotland were originally French Protestants (Huguenot).

    While not impossible, it would be unlikely that the Walkers were highlanders or part of a highland clan. Scottish lowlanders certainly.

    The only real way to know is to do your genealogical research. Find the paper trail leading to where in Scotland your family comes from. The region, area or town. That is the only sure way to tell.

    Yes, there are Tartans that carry the Walker name. They are very recent (see below) Most designed by a guy name Phil Smith who has designed and registered a whole truck load of Tartans. Most are personal and for Americans who don't have, but want a Tartan.
