Kilt Belts
As I said in another post. I ordered a kilt belt from Scottish Kilts.net. Since there was no number size given, I ordered a large. It turned out to be too small. No problem, I knew that with a couple of rivets, and a drill, I could fix it. I also ordered another belt, this time in size extra large. Guess what? This one was too big. The large is marked 38 to 44, and the extra large is marked 43 to 49. My waist at just below the naval is 47.5 inches. My kilts are both size 48. Who can figure how they measure sizes? At ant rate, I finally got the rivets I ordered and fixed both belts so they now fit. Has anyone else had any problems like this, or am I just an odd size.

You're not alone! I'm about 42" at the naval, and ordered a kilt belt by actual size (As in, I ordered a 42" kilt belt). I was told I needed a 44", to allow for the kilt, and the buckle, and so on. Besides, I was told...It's adjustable. OK. I also ordered a soprran belt, "Same size", plus 4 inches. Again, OK.
Then, they arrived. Thank God the belt was adjustable... At it's larget possible size, it's 51" long. It will shorten to about a 26" however...As long you don't mind it being "double thick".
The sporran belt is another story. At it's larget, it's 54". To make it wearable, I'll have to punch a few extra holes in the belt, and trim the "loose end" down a bit.
Beats me how some manufacturers determine their "sizing".

I had exactly the same experience, Hal. The local Scottish shop told me what size I'd need and once I got it I had to remove the adjustment strap and buckle, cut six inches off the belt and reassemble it. Even at that its adjusted to the next to tightest position, if I loose any weight I'll have to cut a couple more inches out. I don't think I'll special order any more belts. If it's not in stock so I can wrap it around myself fo a test fit I'll just go out to the local harness maker and have him make it for me.
