Welcome aboard!
For what it's worth I like a bit of that wave in the horsehair, but if you want to help with the bushiness then working some "Cowboy Magic" through the hair on your brush or horse comb will help restore gloss and sleekness.
One note for those who don't know, when combing horsehair it's always a good idea to use your hand to put some pressure on the stitches that hold the hair in place to help minimize the strain and stress on the attachment.

I spray a water on it and use my daughters Hair straighteners then spray on some Dry conditioner spray and come it threw and straighten a little more all the time bushing it . This is how I got one of mine from curling out at the sides

One word of caution on anything that uses heat to alter the condition of hair-
Heat DAMAGES hair. On humans it's not usually that big a deal as we continually grow it (until our 'landing strip' or 'peninsula' starts to form as middle age chaps),
but on cut hair heat can cause weakness over time and result in brittle and broken hairs.
It takes a while for the damage to happen, but I'd just as soon avoid the possibility, especially if you were looking to have your piece end up as a really nice antique in your son/grandson/great-grandson's wardrobe.

I completely agree with Scott on this one. I used "Cowboy Magic" on my horsehair sporran (long since sold off) and it did wonders! I highly recommend the product.
