    Equivalent to The Corries

Looking for groups that play music similar to the Corries. Not looking for pure instrumentals. Any suggestions? Thx

Aww shucks, that's an easy one:

    The Dubliners
    Luke Kelly
    The Clancy Brothers
    Maken & Clancy
    The Wolfe Tones
    The Irish Rovers
    The High Kings
The Chieftains - mainly instrumental but they're so rad it doesn't matter
Patrick Street - again, more instrumental than vocal but also so rad it doesn't matter
    Christy Moore
    The Tannahill Weavers
    De Dannan
    Silly Wizard
    Battlefield Band
    Planxty
    Boys of the Lough
The Pogues - not similar at all but so awesome you should check them out

Not quite "like" the Corries, but well worth a listen
Karen Matheson has an amazing voice and they sing in both English and Gaelic

Deaf Shepherd released two albums in the Nineties. Must haves, as far as I am concerned. "Ae Spark O' Nature's Fire" is the title of one. Two of the players from that group went on to help form The Old Blind Dogs, them having at least three releases to their credit. Traditional tunes and songs, some originals, and combined sets. If you can still find a copy of the album "Old Hag You Have Killed Me" by the Bothy Band, it is also a fundamental building block of any Trad music collection. Relativity did two releases back in the day, and either of those is worth having, as Johnny Cunningham and Michael O'Domhnaill are both gone, now; Phil Cunningham and Triona Ni Dhomhnaill are still around and performing, but they are largely involved in producing the work of others, now. Altan has probably a dozen albums of mostly Irish Trad available. Lunasa is a well-traveled and marvelously talented Irish Trad ensemble with at least a half-dozen full length recordings available. I have many more favorites, and not enough time to list them all.

I listen to an awful lot of Old Blind Dogs, love them. Also some Scocha. If you type into YouTube "BBC highland sessions" you will find some very fine musicians from both Ireland and Scotland. Their transatlantic sessions are also well worth a listen.

There is no equivalent The Corries, nobody could ever come close!

Seriously though, another vote for Deaf Shepherd, and also Malinky, or at least their first three albums with Karine Polwart on vocals.
