    Questions for a first timer

I am planning on buying fabric for a Belted Plaid aka great kilt, I have a few questions.
#1: How many yards would be enough of a "Man of MUCH Substance"?
#2: Pertains to the first one is a fabric that is 54" wide enough or would i need to add an extra few inches?
#3: This one is the more "controversial" question, Where do I belt it at, at the waist, which being of larger girth is pretty large or at my hips (Where I were my pants at)?

Any answers to these questions would be helpful.

    1. My waist (kilt waist) was 60 inches when I started wearing the kilt, and 5 yards of double wide fabric seemed to work fine.

    2. I'm about 6' 1" and 54" wide material works for me. Take a tape measure, and measure up from the top of your kneecap. If 54" goes to the top of your head or better, should be fine.

    3. Doesn't make a lot of difference. Just make sure the belting is secure, or you will be wearing you kilt at your ankles!

Nathan, read another thread titled "location of waist" in the KILT ADVICE forum. There are good insights of measuring, design, and donning the kilt for larger girths from the rabble.
