Stone Mountian games 2014 ....are you going?

Worth doing. It fills up though. Some of the bands camp too so impromptu concerts occasionally pop up. It is also in the middle of the fall festivities for the park. As such, there is much to do. We camp every year (tent)

I've been giving serious consideration to camping too. I'd like to get away from the "digital" world for a day or two. I've looked at the monthly temp averages, and I've been thinking how nice it would be to wake up at 1/4 to dawn, or dawn thirty, hear nature, (and not the news on channel "who cares any way") and enjoy a campers good morning. The hotel would be "OK", but I'm leaning towards camping out too.

I live in the woods (in Oklahoma), but even thought I'm surrounded by the same "camp environment" I'm also inundated with things that eat power, and think that it would be a really nice break.

A brisk morning of pre-dawn, fallowed by the sun rise, birds, and (probably) the sounds of other campers stirring....I'm already liking the idea of it.....

BTW, just curious at to what "full set up" means?

Stan, Full hookup means thjat the site has water, electric and sewage disposal available at that site. Sites with no hookups are usually listed as "primitive" sites. Some camp site have water or electric and will be listed as such.

My wife and I plan to attend. I believe we will drive up the morning of instead of staying at a hotel, we live near Birmingham so a 3 hr drive isn't that much.

Gentlemen (and ladies),

I have been remiss in addressing things this year, and I do apologize. I retired, then took a part-time teaching position at the technical college which turned full-time, bought a new house, and so on . . .

However, the usual meet-up at the Celtic Tavern is a big go. I spoke to Greg, the owner, and he is pleased to have us. I would recommend arriving at 6:00 or so. There are a couple of good places to stay close by if you don't want to be more than 30 minutes from the park. (Call me if you are interested.)

We always have a great get-together, and we get to meet and greet and get to know each other on a personal level without the distractions of the Games.

So, come one and all. We'll have loads of fun, and maybe quaff a dram or three.

Thank you, my friend. I have missed the cameraderie of the site while my wife has been trying to kill with manual labor. (Yard work, building a garage and wiring it single-handedly, etc.)

But Stone Mountain is on the radar for sure. A couple of non-kilted types asked me recently when the rabble would return, so we are oficially famous.
