It seems that the Scottish have a flair that I will always find alluring. Thank you for the confirmation with this "feed." My being kilted in Oxford is a "novelty" for now but I expect soon it will become routine for many. We shall see.

Thanks for the great pointer! My favorite was the Castle Sinclair Girnigoe, especially the video of the castle and surrounding cliffs taken from a drone. Quick, somebody alert Allen Sinclair, if you can get him away from his Old Pulteney.
I changed my signature. The old one was too ridiculous.

Pssst. We could gently mention to him that a bottle of Talisker is alleged to be buried "somewhere"within the grounds.

Not a bad idea at first glance. But, we might end up being responsible for Allen being detained for desecrating a national treasure. I hope he never visits this thread. He'll never forgive us.

Some fascinating places mentioned in that article. But I would dispute that the Dunsmore Pineapple is the most bizarre structure in Scotland.
It is probably the largest such structure, but it is by no means the only one. There are many examples in stone or concrete of pineapples in various parts of Europe, no doubt inspired by popular fascination with this fruit when it was newly discovered.
Less than an hour’s drive from where I live is an even larger pineapple. Made largely of fibreglass, it was erected to publicise the pineapple growing and processing industry around the towns of Bathurst and Port Alfred, in the district that was named Albany in the early years of British rule at the Cape. Search on google for Bathurst Pineapple.
I would argue that the most bizarre is the Garden of Cosmic Contemplation, with its weird landforms.
And perhaps the most fascinating would be Rosslyn Chapel. As the reference to the underground chamber indicates, there is much we could learn from this extraordinary building.
Similarly fascinating is Maeshowe, proof of a highly cultured early society living in Orkney.
Apart from the weird garden, I would love to see all these places.
    Regards,
    Mike
