Steve, so very true. I am a member of a few communities of common interests. I am most certainly still an amateur among many of you here (just read the 1000th Post, post) but I've already a sense of a vibrant part of many lives.

And, just ending a walk with my wife yesterday evening we went by to peek in at the Gala that she decided not to sign up for (the walk in beautiful Vancouver weather was preferable). Out came one of her conference colleagues in his Cameron kilt, argyll and vest looking resplendent. He'd noticed me at the door casually kilted. Great chat - and I'm convinced more that it will be black argyll instead of PC for me (for the first).

So yes, an amazing community of a grand looking common interest.

More specifically, we met on "the Drive" [local reference to Commercial Drive ] in "East Van" [ local reference to Main Street and eastward ].
EPITAPH: Decades from now, no one will know what my bank balance looked like, it won't matter to anyone what kind of car I drove, nor will anyone care what sort of house I lived in. But the world will be a different place, because I did something so mind bafflingly eccentric that my ruins have become a tourist attraction.
