knife2.jpgHere is a picture of a representative Sgian Achlais. The photo you linked to is definitely a dirk, though not a very historically accurate one. The Sgian Achlais, or armpit knife was a utility knife that could have been used as a weapon of last resort. It`s size was somewhere between that of a sgian dubh and a dirk. It was carried in a sheath with a clip that was attached to the waistcoat near the armpit. A little knife and fork was definitely not a part of the rig. Hope that helps.
