Moslty black tartan: Nightstalker vs Glyndwr?
I'm looking for a low-cost kilt in mostly-black tartan. Two that have caught my eye are the Stillwater standard in Nightstalker and USAKilt casual in Glyndwr.

http://www.usakilts.com/kilts-and-pa...-kilts-23.html
There are plenty of pictures of guys wearing Nightstalkers so I have a good idea what it will look like. I can't seem to find any pictures of anyone wearing the Glyndwr, on XMarks or any other site.
Anyone seen both of these and have any comparisons, observations or comments? Thanks!

I've got the nightstalker and it's a wonderful "neutral" kilt for a little dressier occasions, but if I was to get another one it would definitely be from Rocky at USA Kilts....
BTW, be sure to join us Tuesday the 28th at the Horse Brass Pub on SE Belmont at 7:30p for our Last Tuesday Kilted Night Out ........

I would prefer the Glyndwr. I like the thin red stripe as an accent. I`m not familiar with the acrylic used by Stillwater, but I think PV is the better fabric for a kilt. I have a USAK semi-trad and it`s very nice material. If you happen to have a Welsh connection, the Glyndwr has that going for it too.

Night Stalker is very neutral, and should go with almost anything, although I've almost always worn mine with grey shirt and hose. It requires black accessories, as it doesn't go well with brown. But, I'd hardly call it formal-ish. It would be sharp with a hipster hat, black tee shirt, black boots and scrunched socks. I'm just too old for that look. Just looked mine over a bit ago, as I rearranged the kilts, and think I'll probably post it for sale -- cheap -- as to me it is just to specialized, I need some color.
The USAK offering is very attractive, and P/V is always to be preferred over acrylic. However, given the lone red stripe, it seems it would almost want you to go with red somewhere in the rest of your attire, that could be limiting. It would also need black accessories to look best.
Black Shadow tartan in P/V, if it could be had, would work for me as a formal kilt. Truitt's woolen one looks good on him when worn with other colors, so it can be versatile.
When looking over my Night Stalker closely a while ago, I found some short white hairs from my old dog, who died two years ago, between the pleats. I think dog hair and other things might stick more easily to acrylic fabric, and less so to P/V.

I found that my fawn pugs "barbed" hair come off pretty easy by wiping with a slightly damp hand on Rocky P/Vs.
Found this out while out and away from my sticky roller in a pug hair kilt.
Now is use it at home with no chance of adhesive transfer.
Rocky's American Heritage is another mostly black option?

The Nightstalker kilt looks nice. I think a dark brown sporran and belt would compliment it nicely. The USAK Glyndwr tartan is also nice. Hmmm... I might have to buy one of these in the near future.

I'm liking the Glyndwr also, I think in a semi-traditional would be very very versatile.
