The Wind was more than a little challenge oops :-)

Well as Kilting life would have it.. we all have many new "first times" don't we.

I went to a couple grocery stores with my wife today. and apparently the buildings caused that common "whip the wind up stronger then elsewhere phenomenon" and I got my first outing where I was with a kilt around everywhere but my lower half..
My wife was quick to push it down, but the funny thing is that these kilts are so full with all the pleats that you push down one spot and it does not do much to cover you. Pretty bare naked in a parking lot is certainly not a good thing!

Needless to say.. this was not a good commando day as I did not have to answer that question...it was pretty obvious to anyone in the near vicinity.. Oh well we "Both" got a good laugh anyway even if a bit embarrased

Played golf up in Ottawa a few months ago. A cold windy day and I spent more time bear bottomed the covered up. I knew I should have packed the 50 Lbs. kilt pin.....

I think all of us at one point have experienced the completely unexpected joy of baring to the world!

I believe that's called the Bernoulli Effect in the lexicon of engineer types. Reason enough to wear a sporran loaded up with loose change on a windy day.

Blu believe me. the loose change would have been rolling all over the parking lot..it was really windy.. A kilt pin would only have worked if I pinned it through my legs!... when I say it got blown up above my waist Just picture a man in a shirt and knee socks only in the middle of a parking lot. Do I need to post a picture?

    Don't worry I don't have one

Strange that this topic should arise, we've had it very windy too.

In the main street yesterday my hat was taken off my head and blown clear across the road.

Thankfully I was wearing a heavy wool kilt, i was safe!

Now, in additional to drunken women lifting or removing my kilt, I have to worry about the wind lifting it up! I guess Mother Nature wants to know what we wear under our kilts!

    Crack me up...

The place I live is nicknamed "The Windy Mesa" for good reason, all the weather blows up Glen Canyon, then up the mesa here...great place to fly a kite, a challenge to wear a kilt.

I spent a lot of time hiking in the wind to get used to the effects, but have also experienced that sudden power up-draft.

Just got two new Pittsburgh Kilts with the pocket in the inside apron...a nice place to tuck a waterbottle of heavy pocketknife in the wind...still leaves the stern vulnerable to the whims of the wind.
