Andrew, you pretty well summed up the HA as an organization. Personally, I don't know anyone it that club anymore. I do hang out with a few bikers around here. They're into choppers and customizing and partying, but otherwise don't club up. They have the outlaw look but are pretty decent.

Any 1%er biker should be approached in the same wat you'd approach a bear. They can be fuzzy, cute and cuddly until they get hungry and then if you look like lunch you're done for. It's importand to realize that most 1%, or "outlaw" bikers live by a code that's exclusive to their particular club. They consider themselves and their "brothers" to be the only creatures that matter, all others are sub human and anything you choose to do is therefore okay. They can be just as charming as any other group of people, just don't get between them and their objective or think that they really care what happens to you. It's also important to realise that these "outlaw" bikers are called 1%ers because the American Motorcycle Association once claimed that "bad apples" only amounted to 1% of the motorcycling public. Unless you know what to look for it can be hard to tell the difference between a 1%er and a more normal person who just happens to enjoy motorcycles and the "bad boy" image that seems to go with them.

That being said, of course bikers (club members or otherwise) are going to be basically tolerant of kilt wearers. We exhibit many similar traits. We are dressing and acting in a way that his noble and extremely masculine. We are displaying traditions that outsiders only vaugely comprehend. We face a cretain amount of disdain from the social elite who think they rule the earth. These are things that bikers can relate to.

By the way, what in the world is that avatar Miah? I don't know whether to laugh because it looks so silly to see that guy fall down the hole in the floor or to wince because it looks so painful the way his leg twists when he goes down!

The best way to handle the 1%ers is stay away from them just like you would any dangerous creatures. Not a problem where I live.

Good advice Bubba, except I'd have to change jobs since I sell bikes and parts to some of them.

Good story! After that, there couldn't possibly be any place on the planet where you should be apprehensive about wearing your kilt. Way to go!
