From a color theory perspective .... Green based or with a green component (sienna with green) should look sharp with both.

I'm not an expert - that looks like the Maple Leaf tartan in your kilt. Whatever it is, that tweed looks fabulous with it. The golden tones of the Glenlyon tweed go beautifully with the gold in the tartan. You have nailed the right tweed for this kilt!
    Bravo!

Thank you, yes it is the Maple Leaf. There are threads of red in the cloth that also go with the red in the kilt.

Farmer Jones, you make an great advert for House of Labhran. Excellent taste.
If you are going to do it, do it in a kilt!

There have been a number of threads discussing colour combinations so could I suggest a sticky is created with indications for match/contrast.
I'm not suggesting a tartan-by-tartan list but merely something along the lines of 'Predominately blue tartans match well with grey jackets and sporrans and contrast appealingly with...' etc. Maybe even a 'but not with Fuschia s it will clash'.
I know not everyone will agree on some of the colour matches, but it would give those of us not as knowledgeable a quick sanity check.

FJ, as far as I am concerned, you have gone to the top of the tree for jacket tailors and you have yourself a fantastic jacket and waistcoat. A big well done and cheers.

They don't need me to advertise for them, I think, but I am happy with them. I have taken a couple photos to illustrate the colour of the tweed to respond to the comments earlier.

This is a detail of where the collar folds back over the back of the neck. You can get an idea of the individual thread colours. While the overall colour is like straw, there is enough blue, red, green, that this cloth could probably go with a wide range of tartans.

Here is the cloth from a little further away so the detail and blending of colour starts to appear together.

Being seamstress, I can't help but notice how well the threads are matched for each piece of the jacket. The threads are matched both vertically and horizontally - beautifully done! This take commitment to detail.

You have a true gem, my friend. The jacket was beautifully made from the beginning and then you chose a first class tailor to alter it for you. Well done!
