What about this little beauty? I found it listed online awhile back and it really looks like a functional and beautiful piece......

(ps...May I ask the moderators and/or Steve, why the photos are now coming up as attachments? I have done nothing to change anything at my end but now you have to click on attachments rather than having a photo show up. )

An unorthodox choice that I sometimes carry is the Cold Steel Holdout. It is a folding knife. The smallest in the series is a 3" blade. They are single edge, and when unfolded are basically in the sgian dubh shape, even to the notches/coining on the back edge of the blade near the handle. I have one that I carry when I am on a trip, and going to be wearing both kilts and saxon clothes. It's thin enough to fit under kilt hose, or in trouser pocket. I was going to get a sheath made for it, but it seems to ride fine in my hose when folded, so I haven't bothered.

As a matter of fact I carried a cord-wrapped Izula for years, fantastic knife. However, I...kind of bought the pink one. If I'd gone with something more mainstream that would be a kilt option I should have thought of, earlier. Maybe the coating will break off and I could strip it to bare steel someday...
EDIT: Or, I could redo the cord wrap so more of the handle is hidden...No pink would be visible until the blade is drawn. And at that point, no one is going to ask a man who isn't wearing pants why he carries a pink knife.

I got my sgian dubh from Scotia Metalworks. Here's the thread where I posted pictures and talked about it.

The pink wasn't very vibrant if I recall correctly. I wouldn't think it would matter if you wrapped it like I've done with mine. Also, the powder coating comes off quite easily with a good paint stripper. ESEE now offers the Izula in pattern welded steel which is really cool.

This is the knife Hawk posted about in message 11 - although moderators have the power to edit other people's messages it is something not done on this forum. Some software clash has caused the alteration in seeing images - outside my ken.

That is one gorgeous piece of fine equipment! Can you point me to it online @Hawk ? Covetousness is supposed to be a sin, but I guess I'm a sinner!
It seems that the picture problem may be either fixed or at least being addressed; Steve said elsewhere that there was a problem with a software conflict and that Rob was working on it. Several of us had problems with that.

Looks like something like this, which I've recently seen on ebay, might fit the bill. It's simple in design and has a 70mm blade.
