Tartan Waistcoat - One from the back of the wardrobe

Digging through the wardrobe this morning I stumbled on this which I must have made 15-20 years ago and had completely forgotten about.

Found it just in time for Christmas

Beautiful! I love tartan waistcoats (on my list to get/make) and MacDonald tartan is always beautiful.

an interesting take on the "bias cut". I guess more appropriately called the "chevron cut". Not so sure it would work as well with other tartans but with the MacDonald it really stands out. Splendid!

Definitely has a nice Holiday look to it. I do like the tartan waistcoats as well. I'd like to get one someday.

Probably Black Tie with kilt or trews but I can also see an option as smart casual with shirt sleeves or with a plain day jacket.

Since I made this waistcoat I my chest has grown a little and whilst it still fits it's snug. Perhaps it's time to pass it and the diced one (less the brass buttons) on to a new owner. Size 37-38 inches. The MacDonald one is made from Lochcarron's Braeriach cloth, the Diced one is my own hand woven material. If anyone is interest in making me an offer please PM me.
