2014 Alexandria Scottish Christmas Walk Parade Pics
A perfect start of the Christmas Season is the Alexandria Scottish Christmas Walk parade. It also caps off the end of the year of Scottish events in Virginia. For the last several years, I’ve convened my Clan Society, MacCallum – Malcolm presence there. I invite XMarkers with out a Clan affiliation or that is not marching to join us. Many years the Rabble outnumber the kin.
Here are my pics of today’s parade.
Staking out our presence on the block we are to assembly for the parade.

In my pre-parade walkabout I met up with XMARKER Geoff and Michele Withnell marching with the Davidsons.

Caught up with XMARKER Mark A. Henderson (MacEanruig)marching with Clan of the same. The other Henderson gent I understand is a member here, also.

XMARKERS Bill Johnson (Sir William) and Gerry (Orvice) came by for a chat, but unfortunately the photo op was a wash out.
In my Clan, I had three to show up to march.
Desmond McCallum of Sterling Va.

And father and son, Rick and Chris Mattice (Malcolm). Rick had traveled from Connecticut to march with a visit with son who is in the Coast Guard who soon is to be re-stationed.

XMARKERS marching with the Clan was John Samonsky (Svc40bt) with his two sons and a friend of theirs. XMARKERs Paul Hine and Holcombe Thomas also participated here is our group photo

As we were assigned to the rear, I slipped up front to take these units heading out for the march.

My Welsh friend Robert Roser piping for his wife’s clan MacNaughton.

The crowds along the way.
Due to the inclement weather, the number was down for spectators and parade unit participation.

The reviewing stand.

The Jolly Elf, himself!

Afterwards several of us joined the Donnachaidhs and Wallaces for lunch at the Fish Market.
It was a grand day!

You almost got me in this picture. I was standing just a bit further to the right of the Coldwell Banker spot.

If you are going to do it, do it in a kilt!

Wow! Thanks for posting all the pics of your Scottish event. It makes me really miss living in a part of the country that is kilt friendly. I'm sorry to admit that Wisconsin is a bit of a kilt dead zone. There are almost no Scottish events of any kind and what few there are tend to be a bit lame in comparison to those that take place on the east coast. But I haven't ever had any negative experiences when wearing my kilt around town. It's just that I'm the only one.
