    Kilts in Manhattan

There was at least one kilt at the Metropolitan Museum of Art when the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge went to a fundraiser.

I don't know who he was, but he appeared to be accompanying/escorting them throughout the evening. He stayed pretty close by them.

There was also another kilted fellow that appeared later on in the evening, wearing ecru hose and what appeared to be a velvet jacket.

From his proximity to the Duke and his positioning I would guess he was security.

Nope, not security. IF you watch the video clip in the Daily Mail link, you will note that the royal couple is introduced to the gentleman in the kilt and his wife. I suspect he is the head curator or chair of the board of the Museum of Art; and they are their hosts for the evening.

As the event was for raising funds for the St Andrews University in Scotland, I would suggest thtat the kilts were worn by some representatives of that fine institution. Cheers.
