I would have responded to the poll "yes", but for some reason I am not allowed to respond to polls.

Hamish sorry I did not mean to mislead.. I could not figure out what you meant at first.. There is NO clue in Freedom Lovers post.
What I meant was that he trust my judgement on the content because he knows me so the content is not a concern with him and the same was basically expressed by Glen in his last post that he trusted my judgement on that also...
But since you all want a clue at the very least. I will start with this. But you will have to look it up your selves Can't quote it here.

Yes, Go for it! It's your 15 minutes of fame, man! How could you not?

I would vote "YES" in you poll but, for whatever reason, ... it would seem I've not been granted permission to do so.

Re: Asked to do a TV Commercail
"You can even wear your kilt if you will do it for us."
Whatever the commercial is about, the above sentence tells us that it is of no importance (to them – whoever they might be) what you are wearing. They apparently are interested in your statement, and thus, I suppose, it is some sort of a testimonial campaign.
The question for you is rather, should you participate or not? Asking us whether it should be kilted or in pants you at least imply that you are not against the campaign itself or what it stands for. On the contrary you might be in favour of it.
Your reservations therefore might be:
1. Could it harm the business (your own?) or the cause (political?) if you were kilted rather than in more conventional pants?
2. Could it harm you or your family?
I – as a kilt wearer myself – am inclined to say NO to question # 1. How could it?
Having been offered the possibility of wearing the kilt indicates that you already wear it in public. Accordingly I should say NO to question # 2 as well.
My conclusion:
YES: Wear your kilt in the commercial. The side effect is that you thereby are promoting the MIK cause.
Good luck
GG
