I find it better then pockets also although I don't like to put much in it. It takes a little of the freedom feeling away to have that hanging in front, so when I am around the house or taking walks near by I leave it off. To make sure people see the kilt as a kilt and not a skirt, I wear it in other public venues.

I rarely use the pocket on my AmeriKilt as I also do not like things in my trouser pockets, front or rear.
