Hello Rainbow; welcome to X Marks from Delaware, USA.

Good luck on making your kilt. You'll get a lot of help from the information and professionals found on this site.

Glad you chose to join the kilted rabble.

Simon Fraser fought as MacShimidh, a Highland chief… wrapped and belted in a plaid over the top of his linen shirt, like his ordinary kinsmen. He put a bonnet on his head, and stuck the Fraser emblem, a sprig of yew, in it. With the battle cry, A'Chaisteal Dhunaidh and the scream of the pipes, they charged to battle. Thank you everyone - and Happy Christmas!!

I have just received a parcel from the Scottish Tartans Authority - my Art of Kiltmaking boolk has arrived - just ordered a couple of days ago, I can't wait to read through this and get some ideas for my first project.

I have already got some great advice by reading on this forum, so I may end 2015 the proud owner of a DIY kilt!

Hi, Rainbow, and welcome to X Marks from the bottom end of Africa.
My father-in-law was from Manchester. You can imagine some of the choice things he used to say about the folk from t’other side of Pennines!
One of my mom’s grandfathers was from further north – Durham. And her other grandfather was from even further north, as he was a Scot.
Welcome to the great rabble, and enjoy your kilt-making.
    Regards,
    Mike
