A new Kilted Challenge
CLIMB into the NEW YEAR. And do it in a KILT!
The Austin Northwest YMCA has been sponsoring a cycling event and this year it will be a 2015 SECOND STANDING CLIMB on the indoor spin bikes. I have found a couple of participants who will do this wearing a kilt and hope there will be some in this group who would like to join in. History could be made - I doubt this has been done before. It could be newsworthy if we have enough participants. January 4th, beginning at 9:30 AM.
PM me for information, I will have the entry fee waived for those in kilts.
BTW - 2015 seconds is only 33 minutes and 35 seconds. Very doable and loads of fun.

If you will permit, I can clear my schedule and help out. I've got a 1990 Schwinn Air-Dyne in my living room that I can use to meet this challenge. Let me know if the group will accept me doing it here in Oxford, MS. I can get my wife to verify the date/time requirement if you need witnesses. I can synchronize my watch to Austin time, because I've watched all the James Bond movies and learned how. PM me and send the info if the sponsors agree.
Ps. I have a kilt and have nowhere to go "quickly on a stationary bike".

It is great to have you join us. We will miss your physical presence, but appreciate you off-site support. WOW - now the event is "National." Maybe we can be joined by kilted cyclists all over the world !!

My good wife took this photo as I prepared for this challenge. I quickly shed the vest, helmet, goggles and gloves. I put on music as inspiration and as a timing element. Iron Butterfly's, "In-A-Dagga-Da-Vida" is 17 minutes and 4 seconds in duration. Twice played gave me a total time of 34:08. I need a nap now. I hope the event in Austin went as well as expected. Thanks for the inspiration and adventure.

I think the Austin event went very well. There were just over 40 participants. Since we had 3 sessions of 2015 seconds (we only had 17 spin bikes,) a few did it more than one time. Only 3 of the participants wore kilts. While that was a first, it was hardly enough involvement to attract the media. Your support from another state was appreciated - thanks.

If I still lived in Houston, I would have traveled to Austin just to do it. I've done several spin classes in my SportKilt (and a couple in combat boots). It was always a lot of fun. It's awesome it worked out.
