Well met fellow "Old North State" citizen. I have toooooo... many relatives in NC (even Salisbury), but am damn proud to claim being a native (ie my call sign). Every Ingram you meet there will a birth-right by bloodline member of my family. I am the "ghost cat" of my clan. Welcome to the rabble and look forward to your input here.

Hail and well met from Kansas!
"Did ye hear the brave tunes ringin' as they swung the drones on high?
Did ye watch the rhythm of the kilt,
Did ye hear the war march die?"

Hi, Woody, and welcome to X Marks from the bottom end of Africa.
You have a magnificent beard – wish mine would grow like that! It gets long, but straggly, and then my wife nags me to have it cut. Then she still complains because (she says) it’s not short enough!
Interesting that your Welsh surname is a given name that was first used in Scotland, before spreading south of the Border (before James became popular in England and Wales, boys named after saints bearing the Hebrew name of Ya’acov were baptised Jacob).
While I have no doubt that you mainly wear MacDonald tartans, there is also one called James of Wales, produced by Cambrian Woollen Mills in Powys.
And do you perhaps also wear the States of Carolina tartan? It is rather handsome.
Regards,
Mike

I currently have 2 utilikilts, and buying a MacDonald kilt in a month. I've seen a few James of Wales tartan, but not too familiar with them. I'll have to research it. The NC tartan is nice, but I'm native to SC and been in NC for 13 years. Not sure that I'd wear it.
I'd definitely like to learn more about the history of James in Scotland. I've only been able to trace my James line back to 1765 in SC, all from the same community until my father moved away in the late 60s.

Oh, and the beard...that was in April. My wife was in the shower behind me. That is what some friends have named Beardthulu. When she got out of the shower, she made me trim it. It's that long again. It's about time to revive Beardthulu!
