    Here you go - MacDonald of Clanranald (Full Dress). Very much an interim paper based on available information. I still hope to track down the original plaid.

    One interesting discovery in writing the paper was that MacKay's book was published in 1924 not 1914 as always quoted. I presume that someone, quite possible D. C. Stewart, got it wrong and we've all blindly followed the date. The details are unambiguous. Click image for larger version.

    Well done, Peter. I hope some day the old Waternish plaid gets into your hands as I'm sure it would unlock the many secrets you laid out in your introductory paragraphs. Good bit of scholarship, that.
