'Monarch' again.
Well, it's been a couple of weeks since we saw Duncan striding off, not into the sunset but almost as emotionally charged. In that time, there has not been another kilt on screen - until this evening.
All too briefly, we had a scene in a local pub where a live band (un-named) was playing lively, danceable Scottish music (in fact, I managed a few Scotttische and Fling steps to the rhythm, so they were pretty good!) One - just one - of the band was dressed in The Kilt and, horror of horrors, he wore no sporran that I could see!!
Just thought I'd mention it - you know me!

Ham, I thought I saw Gollie wearing a kilt in last week's episode. Doesn't look as though anyone else is taking up the mantle!

You'd think Paul would have learned the joys of a kilt after the Hogmanay special. (I finally got to see that one last night.)
I figured Tom Baker would wear a kilt on the show, after seeing the magazine spread of him in a kilt.

My wife and I rented the DVD of the first four episodes. We like the show and will certainly add more episodes to our Netflix list.
I like Duncan's constant kilt-wearing, but he seems a bit loopy. I guess he's the "comedic relief" character. That's too bad.

comic relief...

Golly has worn a kilt on several occasions -- he is the bard & sage of Glenbogle, so when he wears the kilt, it shows respect.

If he did, Joe, then I must have blinked - and missed it!
Golly is usually only ever seen in the kilt when there is some special event taking place. I am not aware that it has ever been an 'everyday' garment for him.

Golly & a kilt...

What impresses me is that Golly wears a MacDonald tartan kilt, even though he is a Mackenzie, which shows that he is in service to the Laird. Just wish I could figure out what his badge is on his bonnet -- it's not a Mackenzie badge, and not a MacDonald either -- Hector wore the traditional MacDonald badge, but the badge depicted on the Flag in the first episodes and the web site looks more like a Forbes or Sempill badge.
Cheers,
T.

I got the impression that like the crest on the flag, that the show was using a made up crest for the MacDonalds of Glenbogle. I thought I saw the same crest on Hector's binocular case in episode 8 of series 2 (when the American visits). I would not be suprised at a made up crest, so as not to capitalize on another branch of the clan MacDonald.

It's the "Deers Grass" badge from the MacKenzies.
Had a wonderful source look into it for us.
