Looking for PV or Acrylic Canadian Tartan Kilts

    So!
I've introduced myself to the forums, after great debate as to join.
I've googled and searched all over trying to find what I'm looking for and I think this is JUST the place to find it!
I tried searching the forums in the search bar but I came up with nothing.
    I hope you(s) can help!!

I have bought an acrylic black kilt off of ebay, and I love it. But with a wedding or two coming up in the summer I'm looking for new duds!
I really want a Nova Scotia tartan kilt and a Maple Leaf Tartan kilt!
I'm hoping to find it made near by (Canada. The more East Coast the better), with reasonable prices and shipping costs.

If anybody knows of a store or, hell, makes them themselves, I am looking for something poly viscose or acrylic!

Any and all help is greatly appreciated!

    Welcome to XMarks, Pit Rat.

In Canada, Keltoi and Burnetts&Struth (advertisers on top banner) are probably the closest to you, but I don't know if they make kilts out of the materials you mention.
Freedom Kilts -- in British Columbia -- (advertiser on top banner) can make you a kilt out of polyviscose. The Maple Leaf tartan is available in polyviscose, but I am not sure about the Nova Scotia tartan.

For an acrylic kilt you should probably look at Stillwater Kilts (http://www.stillwaterkilts.com/). That company is in the US, but prices and shipping are really reasonable!

    Good luck in your quest.

Also check out USA kilts, vendor at the top of the page here. They make some great kilts and have a huge selection of PV tartans that may include the ones you want.

Canadian Casual Kilts claims to have the exclusive rights to the Maple Leaf tartan in polyviscose. I haven't dealt with this company, so cannot comment on their service or the quality of their products. It appears to be a Canadian company, but there is no physical address given on their website.

I took a look through their order form and did not see either Nova Scotia OR the Maple Leaf Tartan.

I have ordered three full bolts of Maple Leaf in Poly/Rayon from Marton Mills over the last few years. I use it as one of my stock Tartans for Off-The-Rack and Rental kilts.

Of course I have the co-designers permission to have it woven. It is not one of the stock fabrics from Marton Mills.

They do not currently offer any other Canadian Tartans but we have talked about a run of Nova Scotia because I get about three or four requests a year for it.

I browsed your store, and it does look good!
However, I did not see any options for the tartan fabric you mention to have one made.
Are you saying you have "Off-The-Rack" kilts made with Maple Leaf tartan?

Well gents (and lassies) thanks for the help thus far but I fear I may be running out of time.

I plan to be wed near the banks of Newfoundland in this coming summer, but for now my dream of getting married in a Nova Scotia tartan kilt will have to wait.

My fiancée had suggested grey so it will go with some of the theme colours she is picking out.

My first thoughts were these non-family (not sure what to call one that's "made up"?) tartans.

    Either:

    (In Granite Grey)
    or
    http://www.tartanista.co.uk/Tartanis...rchSize=12Well

I plan to be wed near the banks of Newfoundland in this coming summer, but for now my dream of getting married in a Nova Scotia tartan kilt will have to wait.
We plan to elope, making it as cheap and, well, about US as possible. So a $300+ dollar kilt alone is out of the question.

So within a budget can anybody suggest a plain grey, or even a grey tartan that's not clan/family related? (Or even what one of those tartans are call? ... Plaid?? )

They are often referred to a "fashion tartans".

Although I have received great service from buyakilt in the past, for a budget kilt it appears that you get more bang (material) for the buck with the Tartanista offering, which will aid in it looking more like a proper kilt. With some well purchased accessories (perhaps an exhire jacket from MacGregor and MacDuff above) you should do just fine.

    Best of luck!
