    PV in warm weather

In my search for a new kilt I'm wondering if I should get a One in PV.

My question is, How does PV feel the temperature rises? I'm quite comfortable in wool or poly/cotton.

I wore both PV and wool last year in the summer heat and the only difference i found was the wool seemed really scratchy in the heat but the PV was fine . Not sure if that is just my wool kilt but i have not noticed it being scratchy this winter .

I live in Southern California, so it's almost always warm here when I'm wearing my kilt. When attending Scot fests and all day events, I am frequently in my PV semi-trad and I find it be very comfortable.

on very warm days with little wind here in San Francisco, I find my wool kilts a little too warm. I prefer then to wear one of my PV kilts. On a normal SF day either PV or wool works fine.

On a shopping trip last Friday, when I got back to the car, it said it was 43 degrees Celsius outside (and the sensor is under the door mirror in the shade)! My 8 yard PV kilt was no problem at all, felt very comfortable, more than can be said for my cotton shirt, which was a tad damp!

As craigclan said, PV does seem a bit smoother than wool - I put it down to man made fibres being a much smoother finish than pure natural wool. My 8 yard 22 ounce ex-military kilt is fine below the fell but does get a bit warm around the waist when the temperature climbs.
    Regards, Sav.

I have worn my PV kilt through the hottest days of summer and the coldest time of winter. Granted, our winter is not a time of snow (except on the mountains), but PV keeps me warm as well as it keeps me cool.

Having been through only one summer since obtaining my first three kilts I can say in Texas... when it's hot, it's hot no matter what you wear. I was doing a little jogging and went to the North TX Scottish Festival & Highland Games in my SportKilt. Hot temps, but I was rather comfortable . I also wore my 8-yard 13 oz. wool kilt around a little bit. Noticeably more sweat in a couple of warm unventilated indoor environments, but it wasn't necessarily uncomfortable. Disclaimer: I can't say that I've worn both kits in all the same summer situations.

On to colder temps... I've worn both the wool kilt and a new PV USAK casual for some 2+ mile walks around my neighborhood in temps near or below freezing, and both held up well enough to the cold.

Where I live the temps are fairly mild. The high is 33C for a couple days in summer & the lowest I've been walking is -5C

For me it's about sweat during physical activity. I sweat a LOT. I find the PV somewhat more comfortable weight-wise for outdoor activities like hiking, but the main advantage is that I can wash it quickly and easily.
