Although a tweed can be worn in the morning or in the evening, it can be worn as neither morning dress nor evening wear. As Colin mentioned, both morning dress and evening wear are formal so a tweed as a suit equivalent isn't up to snuff.
Morning Dress
The equivalent to this level of dress is the black barathea silver buttoned Argyll.
Evening wear (black tie)
Evening wear (white tie)
The good news is that you can wear the tweed for almost any other occasion!

As mentioned by others, a contrasting waistcoat or no waistcoat is preferable to one that almost matches. You won't find a matching one.

Either will work nicely but tweed is ideal.

Thanks Nathan
I have a prince Charlie with waistcoat which I have worn walking my daughters down the aisle. I did also view your thread, I was just a bit unclear and didn't want my questions to detract from that great thread that you and CMcG did.
Cheers

I have always liked a contrasting weskit, and some of the above are lovely examples.
Plus, as they say, "A contrast is better than a bad match!"
Steve A,
I must compliment you on such a perfectly fitting jacket! (Photos page 1) A lot I don't know, but when something fits, I know it. :-)

I just have to say that this is perhaps the nicest photo of an XMarker I've seen in my years on these boards! Well done indeed!
It should be on the cover of a book somewhere.
I love seeing red and yellow and buff waistcoats, but this brown (maroon?) one and the way it contrasts with the soft tweed is brilliant.

Downunder,
Just want to say that you look quite spiffy in your jacket, kilt, vest, etc. But I love the antique cars behind you. And most of all, you look just like you fit into the class of people who would be driving those cars, or, perhaps, sitting in the back with someone else driving for you. Very classy!!!

I especially like the burgundy waistcoat. Very nice contrast.
