Wow 45 years kilted! I have some catching up to do
Ah The Scottish Shopper! What memories that brings back. It was all new to me, and I carefully studied that little catalogue page by page. It would be wonderful if somebody had a copy and scanned the whole thing and posted it here, or at least the pages concerned with Highland Dress.

Ah, if only I had had the courage to wear my army kilt with civilian garb, and purchased one for myself at the time. That would have meant that I would now have been kilted for 45 years!
Instead I bought my first civilian kilt as recently as 2011.
But I do have a memorable recollection of 1976: my wedding. The wife and I are still together after all this time.
Also in ’76 I went to a regimental camp not dressed in a kilt: regimental uniforms had been barred, and I had to wear field dress.
So, Richard, my heartiest felicitations to you on your being kilted for these past four decades, on your continuing practice of the bagpipes, and on your smart wedding garb (I had to make do with a white suit, which caused my missus enough panic until I found an off-the-peg one that fitted).
My best regards to your good lady, too.
Mike

Mike,
Just want to say congratulations to you and your lovely wife on almost 39 years of, hopefully, happy marriage. May you both have another 39 happy years together.

Yes congratulations Mike for your 39 years wedded!
Only 26 for my wife and I... we have some catching up to do!
Too bad the kilts were discontinued. I firmly believe that if the US Army started up a Highland unit, complete with kilts, a pipe band, etc they would have more volunteers than they would know what to do with.
