Another Major Event --- KILTED!!!!!---
I have another major event to go to and I am not sure wether I should go Kilted.
Regardless of our political persuasions which I know are varied and that's fine. - And regardless wether a Democrat or Repuplican is president, there are concerns the Secret Service has that makes me cautious about my next opportunity.
I will meet again with the Presidents advance team along with many other volunteers concerning a stop in Ohio. The Last time I met with another group of them I wore trousers but the Secret Service was not at that meeting and it was all local people that know me. This time some of the biggies are going to be there.
I want to go Kilted, but I don't want to cause the Secret Service to have concerns about my sanity. I may have to trouser this event. I am a nobody in this campaign, just a common volunteer and I prefer to keep it that way. I really wish kilts were the norm, then it would be no big deal and I would get no attention. The next day is the Presidents visit and I will be doing something at the event so two major days to be kilted around 10 to 15 thousand people or Trousered.

JohnAllen, from my admittedly very limited experience with the secret service they have doubts about everyone's sanity! I've been present at a couple of presidential visits and it seems to me that the secret service views us all as suspects. I can't see how wearing your kilt would make them any more curious about you than they would be about any other ethnically identifiable person. If you were looking to advance in the party then you might not want to stand out for your eccentricity, but other than that do what you want. You never know, it might actually open a door too.

Well there is a lot to consider, and I expect a rush to decide from both sides, Some here may have had an experience I have not, so I see it as a very legitimate question. I just don't know.
Thanks Biker for your comments also. I will be considering that.

I have had encounters with secret service guys and had no problems, a kilt is least of their worries. For sure go kilted.

Are you afraid of looking like a Liberal because you are wearing a kilt?

everything is relative. i would understand ur worries in middle europe but in an anglo-american culture, where EVERYbody at least would know what a scottish kilt is, i would say wear it. who knows maybe there would be some scottish rooted politicians, a risk i don t have in austria...
scarrying thoughts at all.

Never been kilted around the President, or candidate but, I have been to two functions in the last year with the Govoner of Ohio. I was kilted (and armed with my sgian dubh) and had no problems with his security.
