I have been playing with some simple photo editing. I took a photo that was taken this past weekend in my yard and gave it a nice vintage look. I rather like it!

LOL very good
Nicely done. I've always liked sepia tones for their warmth, although the background looks anything but warm. The blurring around the edges is a nice touch. Photoshop makes it so easy to give a photo a whole 'nother appearance. Made "WANTED" posters of some staff members a few months ago using some of the same techniques and they looked like they were printed 150 years ago. Your photo has that same quality—looks like it was pulled from your grandmother's photo album.

That is really cool!

If you have a smart phone, Instagram and Over have pretty good filters to create various vintage looks. It's not nearly as involved as firing up a photo editor, but also not nearly as customizable. I also use Noirica for shooting good looking black & white photos (without any additional filters/effects). If you're a shutter bug who often forgets his camera, all of these are decent options.
