We went in August two years ago for the fringe festival. Midges weren't bad till we got to the top of Arthur's seat. We had fantastic weather in edingburgh and even better weather in oban.

As one, along with my wife of 40 years, who dislikes the intense heat and even more so the high humudity of summer in many parts of the world, we found Scotland's bracing summer weather very pleasant. For those who enjoy sun bathing you might want to look else where. Now midges, somewhat a similar problem to our Canadian mosquitos, I understand the concern. Mosquitos can be best avoided by being careful at dawn and dusk and with deet repellant.
