    Kilt Jacket and Trews Drafts

This isn't for beginners, but for those who would like to tailor their own bespoke kilt jacket and trews (and a kilt draft that isn't exactly as we know it), here are some drafts from old tailoring manuals as posted in the Cutter & Tailor forum:

    http://www.cutterandtailor.com/forum...c=3979&p=40600

These aren't patterns, but drafts - so you follow the directions with your own measurements. There are no directions for how to actually assemble them - so no pockets, lining, collar, facings, etc.

Thank you very much for posting the link. The information there sure answers a lot of questions I've had. Maybe someday I'll be able to put this information to use. I'm hoping so.

In the first post at the link are a couple of jpeg image links. I can't see the images on my screen. When I click the links a message says I must be a member to view them. What do the pics show? Would it be worth becoming a member there just to see the images?

The first post are some drafts of trousers and a skirt, which are unrelated to Highland wear.

The description of the way to make a kilt is actually quite good in pointing out what to avoid - I love the reference to the large pleats which 'provide ampleness'.

Thanks for posting the link. I haven't seen those instructions before and I found a new web source for sewing info!

Only one criticism of the source. In the description of the kilt pin, the author mentions that the pin is used to attach the overlap with the underlap. Otherwise, top notch stuff.
