Kilt-length sweaters
Good day, all:
Does anyone know who might produce lines of sweaters (sorry, folks from across the pond: jumpers ) that are especially suitable for wearing with the kilt? i.e., regular sleeve lengths, but shorter overall length to fit higher up on the waist and not hang down to sporran level?

I have never seen such a thing. You could make it yourself or have someone else make it for you. You can, and I often do, tuck it in to the kilt. That is only a bother when you want to put it on and take it off while still wearing the kilt.

I wouldn't tuck it in, but I do just gather it up and let it sit on the top edge of the sporran and hang elsewhere. I think that's probably pretty "normal" (whatever THAT is!)

I have a number of "jumper" type sweaters that work well with the kilt. it's simply a matter of placing the waistband of the sweater at the natural waist. The sweater will "double up" between the waist and the sporran level, but it isn't objectionable in any sense. .

I have a nice wool sweater that I picked up at a military surplus shop (I believe it's French, if the label is any indication) which is relatively short... Not short enough to call "kilt length," but it doesn't want to bunch up on the sporran as much as some. I have a hunch military sweaters in general might tend to be shorter than most because uniform trousers tend to have higher rises than casual/civilian wear.

Now there is a thought. Years ago, my wife made me a pullover which, because I have a relatively long back for my height, turned out on the short side. I hardly ever wore it with trousers, when working, (for years we had no heating in our shop) because there was always a drafty gap at the back, but it could well come into its own with a kilt, I just never thought of it. With a long back, normal sweaters are not a problem. I did not dare throw it out, question is, where did I put it?
If you are going to do it, do it in a kilt!

I wear one of these frequently.

or something like this:

I like the ventilation option the henley or quarter zip styles offer.

Depending on the length of the sweater/jumper, I either fold over the bottom a couple of inches or tuck it under the sporran as has been mentioned. I too, have often thought there would be a market for a kilt length sweater, just as there is a kilt length jacket, but as some of our Highland members suggest, few wear kilts for casual wear....too bad.

Here are a couple of photos of how my sweaters (jumpers) usually fit. I don't get to worked up about how they hang at the waist area, and generally get good comments from folks about how good the sweaters look with the kilt.
