Hood ornament looks like a Rolls Royce. The body style might be listed as a limo or a sedan. Because it was "born" a few years before me I don't quite remember it.

OK, I missed your post that said 1938. So, I change my guess to a 1938 Triumph Vitesse.

I suppose the white ribbon on the car is a bit of a clue really, but for those that might be wondering, Mrs. Jock and I were guests at this:-

For those that may be interested the uniforms represented here, as we look at the picture, are: right and left flank, Royal Logistic Corps, to the left of the Groom(bareheaded)-Parachute Regiment, the rest are Royal Marines(including their acting, temporary and probationary, latest recruit!)

RR Phantom?
ETA: Hah! Obviously the correct answer came in while I was still searching Google Images. . . that radiator didn't look angular enough for RR anyway.

If anyone would like more information on this car. Or perhaps would like to hire it. -

And yes Jock, it would have been cheating for me to give an answer.

I don't think Clarkson is a great fan of British made cars.
If you are going to do it, do it in a kilt!

Possibly not fond of the BBC at the moment either....
